Beto Rato and friends
Beto Rato and Rita Rato, his wife, are a couple of lovely tiny rats living in a burrow near a restaurant door. They have plenty of friends around, like a vegan hippie cat that lives on the restaurant stairs, which is right in front their door, and Ratolino, Beto´s best friend and who is a street clown, but is frequently too sad and demotivated to do his job well enough. All of them are frequently together living a peaceful life, but not without having some cool adventures!
These characters are part of a universe that I started creating together with my girlfriend only for fun. As time passed, and the characters background gained more depth, we gradualy felt that it would be a good thing to put more care into it. For the future, we are planning to write small tales with different themes and maybe one day make an illustrated book about it.
It is also one of my first attempts to create something more towards a cartoonish version of my personal style.
As I got those first characters on paper, I am already excited to show it around and I hope you all like it as much as I liked making them!

Beto Rato (A lovely, talkative, a bit conceited and cheese addicted mid age rat. He is quite naive and has a huge heart, although his belly seems even bigger!)
Rita Rato (Beto´s lifemate. She is gracious, very happy, quite charming and is a flower lover. She is Beto´s inseparable companion and someone who is a perfect match for him)
Raimundo van der Rato (A great inventor, or not! He is Beto´s cousin and is a sorce of great pride by him. Generaly, most of his inventions ended up not working properly, despite he says the opposite)
Ratatinha (Rita´s best friend and her confident. A funny and stylish white mouse who is owner of a charming candy shop right in the corner)
Seu Ratenôr (owner of the local grocery store. Nobody knows his real age or even where he came from, as he is always telling different and absurd stories about his life to everyone. He is a bit deaf by age, then he often delivers wrong quantities)
Ratolino (Beto´s best friend. He is a street mimic, but he spend most of his time being apathetic and demotivated. Even so, he does his best!)
Bobcat (A vegetarian hippie cat living in a stair. He used to be a normal cat in the past, but some say he one day tried to eat Seu Ratenôr. After five days of a harsh indigestion, he threw him up and got traumatized. Nobody knows if its true!)
